OBJECTIVE:
The Estimator and Take Off Specialist will be responsible for interpreting construction plans, creating and managing data, and conducting accurate takeoffs of materials and labor required for internal/external construction projects, and providing overall project cost estimates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Estimates the cost of new and proposed projects and take offs.
Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor projections, and equipment costs Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare cost and labor estimates Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized estimates Develop itemized material list (or item codes) Analyzes changes to the products and services provided.
Provides detailed reports that will include breakdowns of project costs and forecasts of remaining costs.
Monitor changes in processes or methods to calculate effects on overall costs.
Suggest cost-reducing or profitable solutions.
Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team Perform pre-construction duties and meetings Evaluates potential problems and develops solutions as needed.
Collaborates with department members on processes improvements and ways to develop efficiencies.
Provide timely and cordial interaction with supportive work groups such as Accounting, Maintenance, Building Supply, HR, Development, and other Construction team members, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from work.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, construction management or a combination or experience and education required.
At least three years of proved experience as a take-off and estimate specialist Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook Proficient with Estimating and Take Off Software Ability to make decisions and perform in ambiguous situations.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining professional relationships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize tasks and change direction to meet team, project and department needs.
Self-motivated, dependable, and productive Great attention to detail Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
PREFERRED:
Prior working experience in the construction field and general knowledge of construction processes and procedures preferred Sage experience Bluebeam experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the ability to work 45-50 hours per week during normal business hours Monday - Friday.
Occasional travel may be required for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The majority of this position is in a professional office setting, working with project teams and all levels of Company personnel.
